Foreign Skies

For Northern folk, the night sky is a constant in our lives. Stars fixed, constellation written in history books, a familiar sight every night. On a recent trip to Peru I dipping below the equator for the first time in my life revealing stars once hidden by the horizon. Breath taken, an alien veil of stars danced above my head – the milky way has a good side and it’s seen from the south. Entranced by the glowing galactic core I became lost in a sky more foreign than the land I was visiting.
